WHITTEMORE CENTER AT KEY AUTO GROUP COMPLEX
Since 1995, the Whittemore Center has been the raucous home to the UNH men’s and women’s hockey programs while also hosting the Northeast Passage Wildcats sled hockey team, Campus Rec intramural programs, commencement ceremonies, concerts, U.S. presidents and other special events.
In August 2023, thanks to a $4 million gift from Anthony DiLorenzo ’87, owner of Key Auto Group, the University of New Hampshire is one step closer to transforming and expanding the training and support facilities in UNH’s Whittemore Center Arena as part of the UNH Hockey Renovation Project. The Whittemore Center, home of UNH Wildcat Hockey, and the Hamel Recreation Center will now join together as the new Key Auto Group Complex – a multi-purpose complex located on the Durham campus.
$16 Million Renovation Project
UNH Athletics is embarking on a $16 million renovation to all team spaces at the arena, including locker rooms, sports medicine area, video room, nutrition/study room and other support areas. Funded through state support and private philanthropy, the project will include a new state-of-the-art strength and conditioning center and new locker rooms for men’s hockey, women’s hockey and field hockey while also adding a fully accessible locker room for Northeast Passage sled hockey to use.
SUPPORT THE HOCKEY ARENA PROJECT
Supporting Success
The hockey arena project is a generational investment in the Whittemore Center Arena at the Key Auto Group Complex that will create an exceptional student-athlete experience for Wildcats to thrive in their athletic and academic pursuits. Attracting exceptional students from the region and around the globe requires philanthropic support for elite facilities that will benefit the entire UNH community and engage the state of New Hampshire with its flagship University.
