Men’s Hockey Announces 2023-24 Freshman Class

DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire head men’s hockey coach Mike Souza has announced the freshman class for the 2023-24 season. Ryan Conmy (Alexandria, Va.), Brendan Fitzgerald (North Reading, Mass.), Zach Hahn (Huntington, N.Y.), Marty Lavins (Rīga, Latvia), Nick Ring (Abington, Mass.), Jason Siedem (Madison, N.J.), J.P. Turner (East Falmouth, Mass.) and Ronan Walsh (Andover, N.H.) have joined the program.
 
The Wildcats start the 2023-24 season at the Whittemore Center at the Key Auto Group Complex versus Boston University on Friday, Oct. 13, followed by two home games against defending National Champion Quinnipiac on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21.
 
Convenient and affordable season ticket membership packages are now on sale. Starting at just $204.00, fans can save up to 30% off individual game ticket prices and enjoy additional benefits like access to exclusive events, early entry into games, access to the Skybox Lounge (per capacity limitations), Amnesty Ticket Exchange program and game day discounts.
 
Discounted tickets for groups of 20 or more are also available. Group tickets provide access to experiences such as Zamboni Rides, High Five Tunnels, Postgame Group Photos, Intermission Skates and the opportunity to perform the National Anthem.

  • Selected in the sixth round of the 2023 NHL Draft by the LA Kings with the 182nd pick

  • Appeared in 60 games with 33 goals and 29 assists for 62 points
  • Named to the USHL All-Rookie First Team and earned All-USHL Third Team accolades.  
  • Two-year member of the Bishop Kearney Selects as he totaled 52 goals and 55 assists for 107 points
  • Graduated in 2023 from University of Nebraska High School (online)

 


BRENDAN FITZGERALD

  • Played the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL)
  • Assistant captain in 2022-23
  • Appeared in 101 career games with eight goals and 47 assists for 55 points
  • Two-year member of the varsity hockey team at The Governor’s Academy as he was an assistant captain in 2020-21
  • 2019-20 First Team All-ISL as he posted seven goals and 25 assists for 32 points over 32 games  
  • Graduated in 2021 from The Governor’s Academy

 


ZACH HAHN


 

  • Played the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons for the P.A.L. Junior Islanders (NCDC)
  • Assistant captain in 2022-23
  • Team won the 2023 Dineen Cup
  • Appeared in 100 career games with seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points
  • Two-year member of the varsity hockey team at The Taft School where he was an assistant captain in 2020-21
  • Graduated in 2021 from The Taft School

 


MARTY LAVINS

  • Member of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL) during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons
  • Assistant captain in 2022-23
  • Recorded 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 career points as he appeared in 100 games
  • Tallied four goals and 11 assists for 15 points during 2021-22, and 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points during 2022-23
  • Also played for Latvia at the Under 20 World Junior Championship    
  • Graduated in 2022 from University of Nebraska High School (online)

 


NICK RING

  • Member of the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) in 2022-23
  • Appeared in 48 games with 12 goals and 30 assists for 42 points
  • Played for the New Jersey Jr. Titans (NAHL) during the 2021-22 season
  • Totaled 10 goals and 26 assists for 36 points over 56 games
  • Skated for Boston Advantage (NCDC) in 2020-21 with 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points during 43 games played
  • Graduated in 2022 from Hingham High School/University of Nebraska High School (online)

 


JASON SIEDEM

  • Played the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons for the Blackfalds Bulldogs (AJHL)
  • Assistant captain both seasons
  • Appeared in 103 career AJHL games with 43 goals and 75 assists for 118 points
  • Ranked in the top seven in the AJHL in 2022-23 with 75 regular season points and was second in playoff scoring with 21 points, leading all playoff scorers with even strength production
  • Was the named the team’s Rookie of the Year as a true freshman in 2017-18 at Avon Old Farms where he led the team in goals with 10 in 25 games
  • Graduated in 2021 from Avon Old Farms

 


J.P. TURNER

  • Member of Fargo Force (USHL) in 2021-22 and 2022-23
  • Appeared in 86 games with 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points
  • Team won the 2022-23 Anderson Cup for winning the regular season championship and were the USHL Playoff Western Conference champions
  • Also played for the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) in 2020-21 and 2021-22
  • Three-year member of the varsity hockey team at Avon Old Farms where he was the team captain in 2020-21 and played in 54 career games with 26 goals and 26 assists for 52 points, while the team won the 2019-20 Founder’s League championship
  • Graduated in 2021 from Avon Old Farms

 


RONAN WALSH

  • Played 25 games for the Amarillo Wranglers (NAHL) during the 2022-23 season with nine goals and three assists for 12 points
  • Skated with the Aberdeen Wings (NAHL) during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons
  • Appeared in 79 career games with 28 goals and 22 assists for 50 points
  • Played for the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs (NCDC) during the 2020-21 season  
  • Four-year member of the varsity hockey team at Proctor Academy posting 47 goals and 62 assists for 109 points as he was an alternate captain, Lakes Region All-Star and member of the New Hampshire Prep. School Hockey Coaches Association All-State Team
  • Graduated in 2020 from Proctor Academy
