Proposed regulation would require media retailers, NGOs that obtain greater than 20 % of their funding from overseas sources to register as ‘brokers of overseas affect’.

The regulation, which has acquired preliminary approval, would require media retailers and NGOs that obtain greater than 20 % of their funding from overseas sources to register as “brokers of overseas affect”.

In a video she shot with New York’s Statue of Liberty seen within the background, Zourabichvili supported the protesters.

“I’m standing in New York, and behind me is the Statue of Liberty. That is is a logo for which Georgia has at all times fought, for which we’ve got come to today. I’m with you, as a result of at this time you symbolize free Georgia,” she stated.

“Georgia, which sees its future in Europe and won’t give anybody the best to take this future. This regulation have to be abolished in any type.

The European Union has warned Georgia that by adopting this regulation it might hurt its prospects of ever becoming a member of the bloc. Worldwide organizations have voiced concern over the draft regulation, saying it runs towards Georgia’s democratic growth.
